Wireless Network

The Wireless LAN segment of the mobile computing market is expected to grow from approximately 1,003,000 unit shipments in 2001 to 4,099,000 shipments in 2003 or 30 percent each year according to IDC's market study.

Wireless LAN-based mobile computing solutions are becoming quite prevalent in many horizontal applications in the general office and vertical industries, such as healthcare, manufacturing, goods distribution, hospitality and retail.

Most wireless LANs operate in multiple frequency ranges with direct sequence coding or frequency hopping. Hardware components are a LAN adapter and antenna that reside in the mobile computer device and a hub that connects multiple mobile devices to the server. Depending on your network traffic - you can have between 10-30 mobile devices per hub.

Would you like a minimum of 15 minutes to half an hour per day productivity improvement per mobile professional? Does your business need to be wireless?

Ask yourself these few questions and you will find out:

  1. Mobile professionals in public hot spots
  2. Shop floor, retail and warehouse applications
  3. Difficulty of cables (difficult and expensive to rewire cables)
  4. Temporary locations or project sites
  5. Training of customers, employees, etc utilizing computer equipment
  6. Handheld devices are used for most communications
