In 1999, A-Tech Computer Service, Inc. renovated a historic 107 year old building and established it as their corporate location.
Located in Dundee Township, the building was established in 1892 by Reuben and William Sutfin as Citizens' Heat, Light & Power Company. Touted by a local newspaper of the time, the facility was praised as "the finest electrical plant in the state". In November 1892, the switch was thrown and two steam boilers powering a dynamo, illuminated churches, homes and businesses in East and West Dundee for the first time ever.
Through the following century the building served multiple uses including the first freight station along the Fox River for the Chicago North Western Railroad. 296 Williams Place also operated as North Shore Electric Co., Dundee Heat, Light & Power Co., Standard Wood (Stan-Wood) Products, Inc., Dundee Millwork Co., Bollenbach Engineering, and now the corporate headquarters of A-Tech Computer Service, Inc.
